For the 28C3 we are setting up an OpenBeacon like tracking system.

It will use the new JSON API: <http://www.openbeacon.org/BruCON_2011> <http://api.openbeacon.net/get/brucon.json>

We are trying to add two extra fields: nick and room which reflect the users nick and the current room of the r0ket/tag.

29 will be at a new venue, so this would be a lot of work.

It looks like it's not happening.

We (Munich) don't have the manpower/time for it. (Busy with different projects)

Milosch also doesn't want to do it (he will probably attend

1. Pull code from openbeacon fork

git clone <http://git.42.org/openbeacon.git>

2. Edit openbeacon/host/services/openbeacon-tracker/src/bmReaderPositions.h to include reader
locations for 28c3 or eh12

Overview

The eh12 was our first attempt to use r0kets as readers. This required lots of computes: We used three Laptops and sveral dockstars to power the r0kets and collect and send the reader data. Several “active” usb extension cords were of great help here.

Overview

openbeacon readers dump one RF channel/MAC and send them via UDP packets to a central server.

Original

Original OpenBeacon Readers are nice little black boxes created by milosch with two nRF24L01 and two antenna. (i.e. two receivers in nearly the same position). Problem is: they are expensive, and we currently don't have any.

Overview

The SIGINT 2012 was our first attempt to use tp-link routers to talk to reader-r0kets.

Notable stuff

We expected to have ethernet connectors for all the readers, turns out sigint 2012 only had wireless everywhere.

The tp-link routers do have a wifi chipset, so we attempted to use that instead.
